The Athlete. The Dad. The Coach.

As one of the most accomplished and recognizable faces in professional pickleball, Tyson McGuffin has built a reputation that stretches far beyond the court. A JOOLA Professional and top-ranked competitor, Tyson has become a symbol of what happens when talent, tenacity, and heart collide.

Raised in Lake Chelan, Washington, Tyson comes from a family that lives and breathes competition. With a wrestling coach for a father, grit and discipline were part of his DNA from day one. Though wrestling was his first love - and nearly his college path - Tyson’s passion shifted to tennis, where he made his mark by winning two state titles and earning a college scholarship. At first, for Pickleball, it wasn’t easy - but quitting was never an option. Armed with relentless work ethic and tennis instincts, Tyson turned pro just six months after picking up a paddle. He hasn’t looked back since.

Tyson is involved in all areas of pickleball and is an incredible ambassador for the sport. He runs camps and free junior clinics and has published many free instructional videos promoting pickleball as a game that anyone can learn and enjoy. Tyson hosts The McGuffin Show podcast and in 2024 launched Making McGuffins—a YouTube series (Also, aired on PickleballTV) dedicated to sharing the daily lives of his family outside of professional pickleball.

Off the court, Tyson is a family man to his core. He and his wife Meg are raising their four children - Skyler, Ty, Banks, and Mac - in beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Whether it’s hiking, hitting the lake, vacationing, or chasing music festivals, Tyson brings the same full-send energy to fatherhood that he brings to competition.
